This month Braydun Hill has had a successful few days showcasing the range of Braydun Hill fine shiraz wines at the Hong Kong Wine & Spirits Fair. Our latest release, the 2013 vintage Premium Shiraz which has won Gold at the International Wine & Spirits Challenge, London, Gold at the China International, and 95 points – another gold at the Wine Showcase awards proved really popular with the locals. Medals being printed off as we write!
Braydun Hill with about 20 or so other Aussie wineries formed the Australian national Pavilion and between us we showed the world a full range of superb wines – of different varieties and from a wide range of grape growing and wine producing regions.
Regionality is something we Aussies need to promote more, as many overseas winelovers assume that Aussie wine is the same no matter where it comes from.
The other thing that we need to promote – and Wine Australia is doing good work here – is that Australian fine wine is really up there among the finest! Wine Lovers in Hong Kong and in mainland China have heard of Penfolds, but that’s about as far as it goes.
So there we were, showcasing fine Shiraz wine from McLaren Vale and spreading the word. During the fair, the results of the Hong Kong Wine show were announced – we had entered the 2013 vintage – and the result was a another medal.
Talking of mainland China, we have just received another order which will shortly be on the high seas bound for China. That makes 3 export orders in as many months for Braydun Hill, to Alberta, Canada and Japan as well as China. Braydun Hill may be a small boutique winery, but that doesn’t stop us being actors on the world stage!
